Yakima Super Joe 2
This bike carrier is well constructed, and relatively easy to install once you determine the correct set-up for the make/model of your vehicle. The list of vehicles provided needs to be updated, I don't recall any make/model newer than 05 on the list. I drive a 2008 Chevy Malibu, and my car was not on the list. I had to improvise a little to determine the correct set-up for my car, so the installation for the "maiden voyage" took about 20-25 minutes. I can install the carrier now in about 5 minutes.
Once I got the carrier installed, and my bike mounted, I drove about 8 miles in town to get to the trail head with no mishaps. The carrier held the bike in place very well, I especially like the frame stabilizer mount, and the strap provided to keep the front wheel in place (no more bungees!). I have since made numerous in town and highway trips with no concerns about the old Fuji back there. I have not used the carrier to haul two bikes yet, but I have no doubt that it can do the job.
I would recommend this carrier to anybody, it does a great job, and the price was definitely right.
fits my car, work well, easy to install, remove & re-install
I bought this particular auto bike rack because other models' instructions led me to believe those racks wouldn't fit my car. I own a 2004 Infiniti G35x sports sedan. This rack fits very well. Once the straps were adjusted for length the first time, re-installation after removal becomes very easy. Takes about 2-3 minutes to put back on. The trunk of my car is short externally and this bike rack easily fits inside the trunk when removed. It hold two bicycles. I've never used it to transport two, I only use it for my road bike (one bike at a time). The bike is well secured by the rack and I drive with confidence that the bike is safe and secure. I've wondered if two bikes would fit well because I put my single bike on the outside arms of the rack; the inside arms are a little (too?) close to the trunck, and I wonder if there is room for the pedals of the bike if I used the inside arms (but this is just conjecture, b/c like I said, I never tried the inside arms). This rack is nice because it has three contact point with the bike (not just two) where the rubber straps wrap around the bike tightly. Also, it has six points of contact (three on each side) with the car via the 'cloth' adjustable straps (some cheaper racks have on 2 on each side). Product was delivered promptly in good condition. I recommend this to folks. One thing, the instructions were not crystal clear - it might take a little thinking to figure out how to install it the very first time, but once it is set up subsequent installations are a snap.
Yakima Super Joe
This bike rack works exactly as described. The enclosed instructions list most models of cars and provide settings that worked perfectly for me. The product is sturdy, high quality construction. I am glad I chose the Yakima Super Joe instead of one of the higher priced racks I found on the Internet. This one suits my needs perfectly.
Works for me
After reading all the reviews of other racks..I decided on this on... I'm glad I did... Been using it for a month... I have two trek mt bikes, they fit just perfect. I have a 2004 honda accord..fits perfect. I run a cable from the hook on the back bumper, up around the bikes and lock it... Anyway it rides real stable, no swaying. Highly recomend it!!
Solid
This rack is solid and mounts on my Civic sedan easily. If I wanted to, I could mount the rack without opening the trunk. As far as trunk racks go, it's as good as any which means it has some inherent problems: Straps need to be tightened and loosened to put the rack on an tak it off; Bikes are packed together so pedals engage spokes; universal bike mounts are acceptable, but not a perfect fit. When a bike rack manufacturer fixes any of those problems they'll get 5 stars. I use this rack to haul 2 mountain bikes about 10 miles on a weekly basis. I am totally satisfied with my purchase.
Yakima has made the SuperJoe 2 to deliver two bicycles safely to the trailhead. Trunk mounted racks are easy to get to and offer an affordable alternative to roof rack systems. The SuperJoe 2 holds two bicycles to the tail end of almost any vehicle. Yakima Stable Cradles secure each bike while the six strap system ensures a solid fit of the rack to the car. The Quick Trigger Hub System makes the SuperJoe 2 easy to install or take off.
